Advanced Material Handling Systems for Modern Manufacturing
Move parts, products, and production confidently with custom robotic material handling systems from GLOBAL Automation Technologies. Our engineers design flexible, vision-guided automation for pick-and-place, palletizing, machine loading, racking, and conveyor transfer. Built around your parts, cycle times, floor space, and throughput goals, each system helps increase consistency, reduce manual handling, and keep production moving.
Our Material Handling Services
Flexible robotic systems engineered to move, orient, load, transfer, and palletize parts efficiently across demanding manufacturing operations.
Robotic Material Handling
Custom FANUC robotic cells for pick-and-place, palletizing, depalletizing, racking, de-racking, and inter-station transfer. Each system incorporates appropriate end-of-arm tooling, fixtures, controls, safety guarding, and PLC integration.
Robotic machine tending automates part loading, unloading, door operation, and cycle starts for CNC equipment, presses, molding machines, and secondary operations to extend unattended production and improve equipment utilization.
Machine vision enables robots to identify, locate, orient, inspect, and handle variable parts. Camera-guided bin picking and conveyor tracking reduce fixturing needs while supporting more flexible production workflows.
GLOBAL Automation Technologies engineers advanced material handling systems around the realities of your operation rather than a one-size-fits-all template. Each project opens with a part and process study—geometry, weight, presentation, and rate—that guides end-of-arm tooling design and the choice between an articulated robot, gantry, or autonomous mover. Parts are fed on infeed conveyor that meters and accumulates them so the robot gets a consistent pick, then tooling transfers each part to the next machine, fixture, or station. The team integrates conveyor interfaces, PLC controls, machine vision, and safety guarding into one coordinated line, and validates reach, cycle, and handling through simulation and on-site run-off before production launch.

Meet the GLOBAL Team
Automation specialists focused on solving complex manufacturing challenges.
GLOBAL Automation Technologies was founded in 2008 to solve manufacturing problems through automation. From the beginning, the company recognized that manufacturers often need more than an integrator—they need the skilled people who can implement, launch, and sustain the system—so GLOBAL brought robotic systems integration and technical staffing together under one roof. Over 18+ years its team has grown to 110+ professionals covering engineering, simulation, controls, programming, installation, and commissioning. Headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan, GLOBAL stays close to North America's automotive and industrial base while serving projects across five continents and 22 countries.

Frequently Asked Questions
What payload, reach, and throughput should we expect from a material handling system?
GLOBAL engineers each system to the payload, reach, and production rate your application calls for instead of publishing a single number. Part weight, geometry, travel distances, and how quickly material must move all shape robot and equipment selection, with margin built in for reliable operation. Reach and cycle performance are validated in simulation against your parts before the system is built, keeping expectations tied to real production conditions.
How much part and load variety can a single system handle?
Systems can be designed for a single part or a broad product mix, depending on how much your operation varies. GLOBAL studies the range of sizes, weights, surfaces, and orientations involved, then designs tooling, fixtures, and controls to match. When products change often, recipe-based controls and vision-guided or interchangeable tooling allow the system to switch between variants without a full redesign.
How do you design end-of-arm tooling, and who provides the grippers?
Tooling is engineered to how each part must be gripped—vacuum, mechanical clamp, magnetic, or custom fingers based on weight, surface, and rigidity. GLOBAL designs or specifies the end-of-arm tooling as part of the cell and sources grippers from established component suppliers, so the customer is not left to procure them separately. The finished tooling holds and places parts securely without damaging them.
Can a material handling system integrate with our existing conveyors, infeed, and AMRs?
Yes. GLOBAL designs most systems to work with the conveyors, PLC architecture, machine signals, and plant safety systems already in place. Existing infeed and metering points, handoff locations, and any autonomous movers or docks are reviewed before the interface is defined. Material then flows through the cell on coordinated handoffs rather than as an isolated station that introduces new bottlenecks.
How is a material handling cell guarded and kept safe?
Each cell is enclosed and interlocked so people and equipment remain separated during operation. GLOBAL applies fixed guarding, light curtains, safety scanners, interlocked access, and safety-rated controls appropriate to the layout, with material moving through guarded entry and exit zones. The safeguarding follows recognized industrial robot safety practices and is reviewed against how operators, forklifts, and maintenance service the cell.
How much floor space does a system need, and how is installation handled?
Footprint and layout are developed around available floor space, traffic patterns, and the points where the system connects upstream and downstream. GLOBAL defines access clearances and utility needs during design and uses simulation to confirm reach and flow before build. Installation and commissioning are scheduled around production to keep disruption to a minimum.
What support, training, and spares are available after installation?
After commissioning, GLOBAL delivers operator and maintenance training, technical documentation, and ongoing support so your team can run and maintain the system. Recommended spares for tooling, robot, and controls can be identified to help limit downtime, and support covers troubleshooting, adjustments, and future expansion. If added plant-floor coverage is needed, GLOBAL can provide technical staffing, and systems are built for sustained production with service handled during scheduled maintenance windows.
