Robotic Positioners for Welding Applications

GLOBAL Automation Technologies designs robotic positioner systems that present every part at the right angle for reliable, high-volume welding. From custom fixtures and servo positioning to coordinated robots and vision-guided seam correction, our turnkey cells help manufacturers increase arc-on time, improve weld consistency, reduce rework, and create safer production environments.

Our Robotic Positioner Services

Custom positioning, tooling, controls, and guidance systems for repeatable, high-throughput robotic welding operations.

Servo Positioning Systems

Servo-driven positioners rotate and present components at optimal welding angles, helping robots maintain access, consistency, and efficient cycle times across complex part geometries.

Custom Welding Cells

Complete robotic welding cells are engineered around your parts, weld specifications, production targets, fixtures, safety requirements, and available plant floor space.

Fixture and Tooling

Custom fixtures and end-of-arm tooling securely locate parts for precise, repeatable welding while supporting reliable loading, unloading, and ergonomic material flow.

Coordinated Robot Welding

Single-robot, multi-robot, and coordinated welding systems synchronize motion with positioners to support complex assemblies, higher production volumes, and consistent weld coverage.

Vision-Guided Welding

Integrated machine vision identifies parts, locates seams, verifies orientation, and enables adaptive path correction when production variation affects weld placement.

Welding Cell Retrofits

Modernize existing welding operations with updated robots, controls, positioners, fixtures, and programming designed to improve capacity while minimizing disruption.

Built Around Your Process

Position Every Part for Better Welds

A robotic positioner does more than turn a part—it gives the welding robot consistent access to critical joints—and GLOBAL Automation Technologies engineers the complete system through a clear sequence. It begins with a part and process study of your component geometry, weld joints and standards, cycle time, and how parts will be loaded. From there the team selects the positioner type and number of axes, from single-axis rotary tables and two-axis tilt-and-rotate units to headstock-tailstock, ferris-wheel, or skyhook designs, sized to the part's weight, load moment, and envelope. Engineers then set up coordinated motion so the positioner and robot move together, keeping each joint turned into position while the torch follows the seam, and design durable custom fixtures that locate parts securely and repeatably. Guarding and ergonomics are engineered around the operator, often with two-station or ferris layouts and interlocks so loading happens safely away from the arc, and the finished cell is validated in a run-off against your weld and throughput requirements before launch. The result is repeatable welds, reduced handling, and throughput that scales with confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of positioners does GLOBAL build, and how many axes do they use?

GLOBAL builds a range of positioner types matched to the part and process, including single-axis rotary tables, two-axis tilt-and-rotate positioners, headstock-tailstock configurations for long or shaft-like parts, and ferris-wheel or skyhook designs that let an operator load one side while the robot works the other. The number of axes is chosen so the workpiece can be tilted and rotated to present each joint at a favorable angle. GLOBAL selects the type after reviewing part geometry, weld access, and how parts will be loaded.
